About Resilient Vida
Counselor & Practice Owner
Angelica Tello, Ph.D., LPC-S, NCC
My experiences as a caregiver to my father influenced the creation of Resilient Vida Counseling & Wellness. My father was in a car accident that changed his life drastically; he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, DAI grade 3 near the brainstem. He went from being an independent, able-bodied individual to needing roundabout care as a quadriplegic who was nonverbal. My siblings and I decided to care for our father at home. It was something that aligned to our cultural values and to help with the financial cost of his care. In the midst of caregiving, we were also experiencing the grief of losing our younger sister and living through the pandemic, which added other layers of emotional stress. Carrying for my father at home meant we worked closely with healthcare professionals and connected virtually with other caregivers. It was apparent the immense amount of love and care they provided to their loved ones and patients. On the other end, I also witness the burnout and grief that comes from caregiving and working in healthcare setting. Often times, these sources of emotional stress came from navigating healthcare systems. After the passing of my father, I decided to dedicate my counseling practice to supporting the mental health needs of caregivers and healthcare professionals.
As a counselor, I will create a safe and supportive space for you to process your emotional experiences and develop wellness skills. I will ground our work together in evidence-based practices to help support your counseling goals. I value having a collaborative relationship that is transparent and supports you towards personal growth and emotional wellness.
As a first-generation Latina, I understand the importance of incorporating client’s cultural values into the counseling process. Our work will be tailored to your counseling needs and cultural values. Along with providing culturally affirming counseling, I often utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
